What Types of Programs does CSL offer?
CSL is primarily focused on meeting the needs of young boys that want to take the sport of lacrosse to the next level. Our flagship program is our Select Travel Teams that will travel to various regional and national events. CSL also currently offers Fall Ball Instructional Clinics, Indoor Box-Lax and hosts other clinics and events throughout the year.
How do I register for CSL Programs?
Visit the MEMBER CENTER and "Login" or "Register" to get started and then follow the simple instructions.
What is the Fall Ball Instructional Program?
The Fall Instructional Program is designed for players in grades k-12 of all skill levels and combines individual and team instruction with 7v7 games to implement what players have learned. We have a purely developmental non-contact Sticks n' Stones Division for boys in grades k-2. Boys in grades 3-5, MS (6-8) and HS (9-12) play in sessions divided by grade and ability. Sessions are on Sundays and are designed not to conflict with regular Fall sports seasons. Fall Ball typically runs in Sept-October and registrations begin in August. Find out more in our Off-Season Leagues and Clinics
Section. Beginning in 2013, Carolina Ladies Lacrosse will run all Girls instructional clinics and Spring Rec.
What is Box-Lax?
CSL Box-Lax is our Indoor Lacrosse Program played on an indoor turf field. Box-Lax consists of 6v6 games where players are forced to develop solid fundamentals of stick-skills, stick protection, quick passing, and accurate shooting. Box-Lax usually runs in Dec-Early Feb and signups begin in October. Find out more in our Off-Season Leagues and Clinics
What is a Select Team?
Select teams compete in the off-season as a complement to the traditional MS, HS and recreational youth programs. The Summer season typically runs from May through July. In addition, some teams will play in the Fall. Carolina Select Lacrosse teams are different from other programs in that we primarily focus on player development rather than wins and losses as the overall objective. Select teams travel to events that provide the best opportunities for exposure to quality competition and enable serious HS players to showcase skills and knowledge for college coaches. Visit our Select Travel
Section to learn more.
When are Select Team Tryouts? And what skill levels are required to participate on these Travel Teams?
Tryouts for CSL Select Teams are held in the late Fall (usually Dec). CSL Select Teams differ from recreational Teams. They are designed for experienced athletes who want to take the sport to the next level. All teams will have open tryouts and our goal is to identify players that display the best mix of teamwork, coachability, advanced skills, and exceptional work-ethic. If you feel that you have what it takes, please come try out.
What types of events do Carolina Select teams play in?
An important strategy in player development is to expose athletes to the best lacrosse the country has to offer. CSL Select Teams will enter events that are best suited for the age and objectives of the teams participating. To accomplish this, youth teams (ie u11-15) teams will travel to a series of regional and national tournaments during the summer. HS teams will travel to a combination of summer tournaments, team recruiting camps and fall showcase tournaments.
What is the CSL Refund Policy?
As part of the process of registering to play for Carolina Select Lacrosse, all players and their parents agree to the refund policy. Our refund policy is designed to minimize the impact to both parties in the event of a cancellation. Our programs incur many expenses for each participant very early in the registration process including uniforms, team equipment, insurance, facility use fees, etc. Due to expenses incurred at the time of registration, 1/2 of the fee is non-refundable (regardless of the reason for cancellation). After the first game, practice or event, the entire fee is non-refundable (regardless of the reason for cancellation). There are no refunds on tournament fees as they are paid directly to the events.
Are there any Discounts or Scholarships?
CSL operates on a very tight budget so that we can keep annual club fees as low as possible. However, as we grow, our goal is to offer assistance for families with multiple players and those going through tough times. We will make every attempt to help offset fees for our programs for individuals that are in need of assistance. If you would like a Financial Assistance Application, please contact us
. CSL is engaged in an active, on-going effort to strengthen sponsorships and affiliations with individuals and organizations interested in supporting the mission of the team. Sponsorship funds will be used to build our scholarship program and add discounts or additional services to our players and their families. Fundraising events may also be scheduled throughout the season as a means of further reducing costs. If you would like talk further about these programs or are interested in sponsorship, please contact us.
